DISPUTE RESOLUTION IN HEALTHCARE AND HOSPITALS



Since 1978, Mr. Reardon's practice has focused on the resolution of disputes that arise in the provision of healthcare. He has served as house counsel to a national healthcare Union; assistant general counsel for a major Boston teaching hospital; litigation counsel for a professional liability company representing Harvard hospitals and their providers; lead counsel in precedent setting right to die/medical ethics cases;   counsel in peer review/professional staff disputes; counsel in hundreds of  employment discrimination; licensure; malpractice; contract; and general healthcare disputes.  

Mr. Reardon has served as a board member and risk management committee chair of a community hospital;  a member of hospital based ethics and human subject committees at Boston teaching hospitals; chair of a bar associations Health Law Section;  and a lecturer and trainer in mediation for the American Health Lawyers Association.

Mr. Reardon has numerous publications and book chapters. His articles have been published in NEJM and JAMA. 

A graduate of The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester Ma, he received his law degree from Suffolk University in Boston and his Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from the Harvard School of Public Health.   He has completed Alternative Dispute Resolution training with the American Bar Association and American Health Lawyers Association.

 

These educational and professional experiences have provided outstanding experience in the management and resolution of health care disputes, for example:

As a union attorney, an unauthorized strike was mediated to resolution; a new collective bargaining agreement negotiated; and policies implemented to insure optimal patient care and a unified professional staff;

In the general counsel's office, treatment controversies were resolved in compassionate and efficient ways and policies were implemented to avoid professional staff conflicts in the future;employment and other management issues were managed and resolved;

As counsel to a healthcare insurer, allegations were investigated; resolutions pursued; and pro bono educational training provided, including lectures, writing, and over 200 podcasts that were circulated to thousands of providers; hundreds of disputes were managed to conclusion using sophisticated conflict resolution techniques;

 

In recent years, Mr. Reardon has served as a crisis manager and dispute resolver for health care corporations and providers encountering problems that interfere with the provision of patient care, research pursuits and health care administration.Type your paragraph here.
